JAPANESE
BARLEY TEA
“Barley Tea” is a tea that has long
been loved in Japan

When you think of “Japanese tea,” what comes to mind? Matcha and Green tea are well-known, but Barley tea is also a popular drink. Barley tea is a tea made by infusing roasted barley, and is characterized by its savory aroma. Characterized by its refreshing and never-tiring taste, it has become a staple summer beverage in Japan and is widely embraced as an alternative source of hydration to water. Recently, there has been an increase in people enjoying Barley tea hot during the colder months, making it a year-round beverage and one of Japan’s representative teas.
Benefits of Barley Tea
Naturally Caffeine-Free
One of the primary benefits of barley tea is that it’s naturally caffeine-free. If you’re looking to cut down on caffeine but still want a satisfying, flavorful beverage, Barley tea is the perfect solution. It does not interfere with sleep, so you can enjoy it at any time of the day without worrying about the clock. It is also recommended for those concerned about caffeine, such as young children and pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Zero calories and perfect for rehydration
Barley tea is a zero-calorie beverage, making it an excellent choice for those who wish to enjoy a drink without consuming extra calories. It has the natural sweetness of grains, allowing you to enjoy its delicious flavor without adding sugar or milk. This sugar-free beverage is suitable for hydrating everyone in the family, from small children to adults.

Ease of Drinking and Toasty Aroma
Barley tea has a mild flavor with little bitterness or off-tastes, making it an excellent complement to any meal. The toasty aroma from roasted barley provides a calming effect on both mind and body. Please consider adding it to your repertoire of beverages.

The taste is possible only because we have continued to focus on BARLEY.
Since its founding in 1941, HAKUBAKU has continually focused on grains, particularly barley. Please enjoy the taste of barley tea that only HAKUBAKU, dedicated to pursuing the deliciousness of grains, can offer.

The Commitment to Quality by HAKUBAKU
We are in pursuit of the ultimate barley tea, characterized by its sweetness and minimal bitterness and off-flavors.
In recent years, a variety of teas have been introduced, and more people are choosing tea based on differences in taste and aroma. Barley tea also exhibits unique flavors depending on the type of barley and the degree of roasting. To create a barley tea that is appreciated as “delicious” by those who enjoy these flavor differences, Hakubaku selects barley suitable for Barley tea. We use a German-made coffee roaster, which we have uniquely modified. Additionally, by roasting smaller quantities at a time and taking longer to do so, we reduce uneven roasting, resulting in a sweet barley tea with less bitterness and off-flavors.
Our company obtained FSSC22000 certification (global food safety).
